The committee of the 2020 General Insurance Hockey Tournament has decided to cancel the 2020 OGI Hockey Tournament.
Based on the feedback of teams and the rapid decisions being made in our province relative to COVID-19, it just makes sense.
We will have more information to answer all the questions that you might have in the upcoming weeks.
(Fort Erie, Ontario), April 16, 2020. The committee members of the Ontario General Insurance Hockey Tournament, with the support of the Gore Mutual Foundation, donated $5,000 to Autism Ontario - Niagara Chapter.
"We were excited to organize the 2020 General Insurance Hockey Tournament to be in support of our community and we had a goal to raise more than $25,000 for Autism Niagara, but unfortunately, we were unable to proceed, due to our collective COVID-19 challenge. Fortunately, through the support of the Gore Mutual Foundation, we were able to obtain a $5,000 donation to Autism Ontario - Niagara Chapter."

This annual event was to be held in Fort Erie and Port Colborne on April 3 & 4th, 2020. Over 500 participants and spectators were expected for the event, which is the largest hockey tournament of its kind for the insurance industry. Participants were to include Insurance Brokers, Adjusters, Insurance Companies, Approved Insurance Contractors and Affiliated Repair Facilities.
Autism Ontario - Niagara Chapter plans to utilize the donation to support their Autism Summer Camp, which is offered in communities across Niagara during the summer months. The camp exposes campers to new experiences to increase confidence in their abilities to participate in the community and increase their physical activity level throughout the summer.
"The camp is like no other offered in Niagara in that it provides youth and adults with complex behaviors, medical and sensory needs the required 1 to 1 and 2 to 1 support in recreational, social and life skills activities in a safe and supportive environment. The donation will help us reach our goal to provide acceptance and full community inclusion for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder."

The 2021 Ontario General Hockey Tournament plans are set and the event is scheduled for April 2021.
The Ontario General Insurance Hockey Tournament is a committee of representatives from the General Insurance Industry, who conduct an annual hockey tournament, as a fundraiser for Autism Niagara.

Our President, Scott Maskell, who's convenor and committee chair of the Ontario General Insurance Hockey Tournament, spent the weekend at the rink with 34 teams from across the province to raise funds to help support local initiatives by Autism Ontario - Niagara Region Chapter!
